Archives and Scenic Viewpoint

  • This stopping point is located on Level 11 of the Library building and highlights the University Archives, the Teaching Centre, as well as a scenic viewpoint.
  • University Archives was established in the early years of the University and holds a comprehensive collection of the University’s history in any format it appears. (minutes of meetings, audiotapes, video tapes, posters, blueprints, publications, newspaper clips, correspondence, born digital formats, photographs, etc).
  • The Archivist usually has students enrolled in independent or applied studies working and learning about archival theory and practice during each semester in an attempt to bring the archives into the academy. Some go on to do their Masters in Archival Studies.
  • Involved in projects like the 50 Voices Project, conducted by the Centre for Oral History and Tradition (COHT), which has captured our iconic stories, as well as those yet to be told, of the University’s history-makers throughout the last five decades.
  • Full audio interviews, digital transcripts and photographs will be available in the University Archives and online for future research and as valuable records of University history. Check out ulethbridge.ca/50-voices for more information.

 

  • The Teaching Centre is located to the right of the point of interest decal.
  • The Teaching Centre is a professional development resource for University instructors. They host workshops and events, and support research and initiatives that help to foster creativity and discovery in teaching.

 

  • There is also a scenic viewpoint located near this point in the Curriculum Laboratory, located to the left and around the corner of the point of interest.
  • After entering the Curriculum Laboratory continue straight past the information desk to the study corner located at the south part of the building.
  • Look to south Lethbridge and try to see the Lethbridge College, the former site of the University before classes began in UHall in 1972.
