Sharing Stories: The Nicholas de Grandmaison Oral History Project

Recording Histories

We are looking for people willing to share stories about either the artist Nicholas de Grandmaison or the individuals in his portraits. These stories will be posted publicly on the U of L website and may be included in future exhibitions featuring de Grandmaison works.

Images of the de Grandmaison BMO Financial Gift have been provided in video form and a curated selection is currently on display in the Main Gallery.

Below is a wonderful video produced by the U of L Communications with Josie Mills and the Art Gallery staff featuring the life and work of Nicholas de Grandmaison.

The following is an article from the U of L’s Southern Alberta Magazine that highlights the importance of the Oral History Project.

“Oral History Project Brings the Past to Life”, from the Fall 2013 issue of SAM-Southern Alberta Magazine, Fall 2013

The interviews usually last between 30 and 120 minutes, at the discretion of those being interviewed.
