Then Premier Ralph Klein was in attendance and marking the occasion by performing the ribbon cutting.<\/li>\n<li>Technology\/available features at the current library; online versions of books, laptop rentals, moveable bookshelves and work rooms.<\/li>\n<li>The University Library was designed with students in mind. The south side is the \u201cquiet\u201d side, while the north side is the \u201ctalking side.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The main point of interest at this stop is the Thunderbird Crest Pole, by Mungo Martin, a prominent First Nations artist who was an important figure in Northwest Coast style art.<\/li>\n<li>Originally carved for lobby of a tourist hotel in Lake Louise, commissioned in the 1930s.<\/li>\n<li>This piece is similar in design to a totem pole Martin created for Beacon Hill Park in Victoria, which was at one time the tallest totem pole in the world at 39 metres (127 feet).<\/li>\n<li>The University of Lethbridge has a portrait of the artist in its collection that was painted by Canadian artist Nicholas de Grandmaison.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;in_container&#8221;
