End of an era? A legacy?

The time has come my compadres. Transition is taking place and the time is nearing where I will need to give up access to this account. This year has been a blast, and I am eternally grateful for having had the opportunity that I did to be JDC West Captain. Were there times where I was stressed? Of course! Times where I was regretting my decision? Maybe, but I stuck with it and I am so glad that I got to experience what I did. The hardships and struggles were nothing compared to seeing everyone excel and seeing everyone come together as a family. We broke the dry spell, and holy moly was it ever an amazing feeling hearing our school get called and seeing Accounting and Entrepreneurship go up on stage and get their trophies. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it!

Well bromigos, unless Cody and Eeshwar let me keep this blog, I am out of here! I am officially not Captain anymore, but I am the Outgoing Captain, and incoming VP Conferences & Competitions West with CABS. Moving up in the food chain! I might get my own little blog site started…who knows! Throw some ideas at me for content and how to spice things up! Either way, Cap’n Moe is no longer Cap’n Moe to the world. Remember, everyone needs a lil Moe! I will never forget my team, I will always consider myself your captain, and I will always be over protective of all my delegates. Thank you, and hopefully the next post you read is from Cody & Eeshwar, or Codeesh for short?

(Captain) Moe out!

New Captains!

Wooooow its been FARR TOO LONGG since I updated this! I should probably start off by mentioning our success at the event itself. 2nd place in Accounting (best ever placing for ULETH by the way) and 3rd place in Entrepreneurship! Woot! The dry spell is over! There is so much chatter about JDCW on campus and you can feel the excitement in the air. I almost wish I had at least one more semester because I haven’t felt this type of excitement in my 2 year stint with the club. We have so much momentum built and we’re going to run with it moving forward into the new JDC West year.

Speaking of new, we have new Captains! *drum roll* Cody Thorlakson and Eeshwar Grewal are the Co-Captains of JDC West Lethbridge 2014 and they are going to rock your socks on the road to Regina!

I had better keep this short and sweet, but I promise to write a goodbye post before I hand the blog off to the new Cappys 😉

Adios amigos!

So close!

We leave in 3 days! Thursday night we get on the bus and hit the road to Vancouver Rock City! We have prepared to the best of our abilities, and I want to thank my entire team for all of their hard work. The delegates have all improved drastically from the start of the semester and it was such a great feeling seeing their hard work come together at the last mock on Saturday. By far best presentations I have seen all semester so good job guys! Good luck to everyone this weekend! You guys are all going to rock it out there. Regardless of the results, your public speaking and problem solving skills have improved ten fold, and those are the things that you will take with you as you move from post-secondary to your professional careers. Winning isn’t the main ideology of JDC West and that’s the beauty of such an event. The intangibles you’ll take away from it HUGELY outweigh the tangibles (a trophy?) and they are the kind of things that make you better people and better citizens in society. Thank you all for making my semester one I will never forget!

This is the last post until we get back, so I’ll write ya’ll on next Tuesday. In the mean time, show your Leth Love on twitter with #freshtodeath and #jdcwest. Captain Moe out!

Chillin Wrap-up + Mock 2

Chillin was AMAZING! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the United Way. Also thanks to those who volunteered to jump into the pool! We even had a few lovely ladies from the U of L Swim Team jump in – with matching caps! Chill Bill was obviously loving every minute of it and got his 15 minutes of fame for the year!

After Chillin it was a rather mellow day, just cleaning up, getting life back together and prepping for our second mock. How did that go? I’m glad you asked! It was fabulous! It was such a good feeling seeing how much the teams have progressed since the first mock! I felt like a proud mother watching my children grow right before my eyes! Its so good seeing how the team has come together over the past couple of months and how patient they all have been with everything that has been going on. Defs speaks to the character on the team! After the mock a bunch of us we went out for a short while and really took the opportunity to get to know each other on a personal level.

With Chillin for Charity and Mock 2 coming to a close, you would think that we’re all out of gas, but its the exact opposite! Everyone is pumped and working harder than ever to make sure we as ready as we can be come January 18!

Until next time friends, Captain Moe out

Chillin

Holy long time!

Its been one heck of a while since we last said whats up, but don’t worry we haven’t vanished (yet). So, whats happened since we last chatted? Well, lots! The Halloween party was a HUGE success! Completely sold out and it was soooo fun. Thanks to everyone who came out! We couldn’t have done it without you all!

Secondly, Chillin for Charity is coming up! Come out to the SU Bus Loop on this Thursday from 11-2 and watch our team jump into a pool of ice cold water! If thats not enough, you can see some faculty members jump too! Oh, and guess who is coming out of hibernation…Chill Bill! Thats right, everyone’s favorite polar bear is going to be at the event rocking hard! Huge thanks to Thu Aye who was painting the UWall (or UHall rock, whatever you want to call it) into the early hours of the morning and made it look so damn sexy.

Come out, say hi, we will have some hot beverages and food that day so come and indulge and support our efforts to help the United Way!

Halloween Party

Hey hey kitty cats!

I can hardly believe our Halloween party is only 5 days away! If you haven’t gotten your ticket yet don’t fret. You can buy them from a JDC West member, from the Markin Hall atrium this Tuesday from 10am-3pm, or from the 1st Choice Savings Centre Wednesday to Friday.

Tickets are only $15 and that gives you no line entry and FREE PIZZA from 8pm-10pm! Don’t wait to get yours because this event sells out every year!

Hellooo!

Hello and welcome to the new home of JDC West: Lethbridge! This is Moe, your 2013 team Captain, just dropping a line and saying whats up!

So, this is our brand spanking new blog and I’m pretty new to this as well so lets get this going and see what blogging is all about!

Since we are on the interwebz, I feel it is my duty to selfishly promote our Halloween party. It is being held on October 26 at Studio54, tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. But it gets better! Buy your ticket in advance and you get no-line entry from 8-10pm and FREE PIZZA! I don’t know about you, but between no-line and free pizza I can get my $15 worth pretty quickly.

So where can you buy tickets? Good question! Find one of your JDCW lovelies this week and get tickets from them. We will have a table set up in the Markin Hall atrium on October 23 from 10am-4pm where tickets can be purchased there. There will be another location that week (but we’re still working the details) so keep your eyes open! In the mean time, adios!
