In the updated <strong>LTI 1.3 integration<\/strong>, the workflow for setting up PeerMark and syncing those grades to Moodle has changed significantly from the older Direct V2 plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"PeerMark assignments\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AZYOLsPtSLk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Setting Up a PeerMark Assignment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike the old version, where PeerMark was an &#8220;Assignment Part,&#8221; in LTI 1.3, it is a sub-tool enabled within a standard Turnitin assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create your Turnitin Assignment in Moodle (using the <strong>Turnitin Assignment<\/strong> activity).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Save and Display<\/strong> to launch the Turnitin Inbox.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Settings (gear icon)<\/strong> in the top right.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down to <strong>Optional Settings<\/strong> and check the box for <strong>Enable PeerMark<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Submit<\/strong>. A new tab labelled <strong>PeerMark Setup<\/strong> will now appear at the top of your inbox.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grade Passback<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>PeerMark generates its own distinct data set that must communicate with the Moodle Gradebook via the &#8220;LTI Advantage&#8221; protocol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Critical Note on Grade Syncing:<\/strong> PeerMark grades <strong>do not always automatically sync<\/strong> to the Moodle Gradebook in the same way regular paper grades do. Because the LTI tool primarily &#8220;owns&#8221; the main assignment grade, the secondary PeerMark score requires specific conditions to pass back successfully:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Feedback Release Date:<\/strong> Grades will typically sync only after the <strong>Feedback Release Date<\/strong> for the PeerMark assignment has passed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Manual Trigger:<\/strong> If grades are missing from Moodle after the release date, you must use the <strong>&#8220;Resend Grades to LMS&#8221;<\/strong> button found in the PeerMark inbox to force a sync.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> <strong>Mapping Issues<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>LTI 1.3 creates one primary grade column. If you want a separate column for the <em>paper<\/em> and a separate column for the <em>peer review<\/em>, you may need to create two distinct Turnitin assignments: one for the submission and one specifically for the PeerMark exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step-by-Step Sync Troubleshooting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your student&#8217;s peer review scores are not appearing in Moodle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the <strong>PeerMark Inbox<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify that you have assigned a grade to the student&#8217;s review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the <strong>PeerMark Feedback Release Date<\/strong> has passed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Sync Grades<\/strong> icon (circular arrows) or the <strong>Resend Grades<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refresh your <strong>Moodle Gradebook Setup<\/strong> to see if the column has updated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PeerMark is a peer-review tool that allows students to read, review, and evaluate one or more papers submitted by their classmates.
