Below are the most common causes and the steps you can take to fix them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. The &#8220;Self-Fix&#8221;: Resend Grades to LMS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If a specific grade (or the whole class) is missing from Moodle, your first step should be to manually trigger a sync. This &#8220;pokes&#8221; Moodle to look for new data from Turnitin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enter the <strong>Turnitin Assignment Inbox<\/strong> in Moodle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look for the <strong>Sync Roster<\/strong> icon (circular arrows) or the <strong>Resend Grades to LMS<\/strong> button in the top right header.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"92\" height=\"138\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.ulethbridge.ca\/moodle-answers\/files\/2026\/02\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5806\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.6666289208470162;width:52px;height:auto\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the button and wait for the &#8220;Success&#8221; notification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check your <strong>Moodle Gradebook<\/strong> to see if the marks have appeared.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Max Grade Conflict<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A sync failure occurs when the maximum possible points in Turnitin and Moodle are different values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Turnitin has a &#8220;Max Grade&#8221; of 100 but the Moodle Activity is set a Max Grade of 0, the sync will fail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to <strong>Edit Settings<\/strong> for the assignment in Moodle. Check the <strong>Grade<\/strong> section. Ensure the &#8220;Type&#8221; is set to &#8220;Point&#8221; and the &#8220;Maximum grade&#8221; matches the value you set in the Turnitin settings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to<strong> &#8220;Save&#8221;<\/strong> and then Resync.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Anonymous Marking &#038; The Release Date<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your assignment has <strong>Anonymous Marking<\/strong> enabled, grades are intentionally blocked from syncing to Moodle to protect student identities during the grading process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grades will <em>not<\/em> sync with Moodle until the <strong>Feedback Release Date<\/strong> passes. If you need the grades in Moodle sooner, you must <span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">set the\u00a0<strong>Feedback Release Date<\/strong>\u00a0in Turnitin\u00a0<\/span>to a time in the past. This will force all student names to be revealed and push all grades to Moodle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. The &#8220;Refresh Roster&#8221; Trick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes a student is enrolled in Moodle but hasn&#8217;t been &#8220;seen&#8221; by Turnitin yet, which prevents their grade from being assigned a value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the Turnitin Inbox, click the <strong>Refresh Roster<\/strong> icon (usually next to the Sync button).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This forces Turnitin to check the Moodle participant list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the student\u2019s name appears correctly in the Turnitin list, their grade should sync within a few minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grades are passed from Turnitin to the Moodle Gradebook via a secure &#8220;handshake.&#8221; While this is generally more reliable than older versions, you may occasionally find that a grade appears in the Turnitin Inbox but is missing from your Moodle Gradebook.
