Instructors can now successfully copy, duplicate, or import existing assignments<\/strong>\u00a0from previous semesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, copied assignments are not automatically active<\/strong> on the Turnitin side. To prevent students from encountering error messages, instructors must complete a quick, manual activation\/initialization step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Duplicate within a Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Duplicate or Import:<\/strong>\n
      \n
    • To duplicate in the same course:<\/strong>\u00a0Turn on\u00a0Edit mode<\/strong>, click the three-dot action menu next to the existing Turnitin assignment, and select\u00a0Duplicate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Identify Unlinked Activity:<\/strong>\u00a0The copied assignment will appear on your course page, but it is currently an empty shell on the Turnitin server.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Launch & Link (Crucial Step):<\/strong>\u00a0Click the copied Turnitin activity link. Moodle will initiate a handshake with Turnitin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Update Dates & Save:<\/strong> Turnitin’s setup interface will open in deep-linking mode and detect that this is a duplicated or imported activity.\n

      • Review and adjust your Start Date<\/strong>, Due Date<\/strong>, and Feedback Release Date<\/strong> to match your new semester’s schedule.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Verify the settings under Optional Settings<\/strong> (such as rubric attachments and submission folders) which are carried over from the original assignment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Click\u00a0Submit<\/strong>\u00a0at the bottom of the Turnitin configuration window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Ready for Use:<\/strong> Once you click Submit, the link is initialized. A new, empty Turnitin Assignment Inbox<\/strong> is created specifically for this new course, ready to accept student submissions without carrying over any student files or history from the previous semester.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
