After ten years of support, the Teaching Centre is passing the videoconferencing torch to IT. This change is part of our transition from the CRDC to a Teaching Centre where we can focus on the classroom instruction aspects of technology.
What does this mean for you? All scheduling and technical support for videoconferences will be accessed through the Solutions Centre. To inquire about a videoconference please call 2490. The transition will take several months, during which you will see Teaching Centre staff working together with staff from the Solutions Centre on each videoconference. Both teams are working hard to ensure a smooth transition for users.
What is the Teaching Centre’s role in videoconferencing and collaborative technology now? While the day to day operations of videoconferencing have left our office, staff at the Teaching Centre will continue to be involved in evaluating collaborative technologies as they apply to the classroom. Whether it is legacy room based videoconferencing, Skype or other web-based conferencing applications, if you are are considering using one of these tools in your class, please feel free to contact the Teaching Centre to discuss use and pedagogy.
