LANGUAGES
Spanish
- Having spent in Spain over the years, I am big fan of this country and the Spanish language.
- I continue to work on it, as much as I can by watching television, films in Spanish on top of listening to music and the radio.
German
- “Ich habe fast alles vergessen!” – After spending a summer working in a bakery in Bavaria during the summer of 1996, my German is unfortunately very poor.
TRAVEL
Countries visited : USA, Mexico, Panama, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Grand Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Scotland, England, Ireland, Tunisia, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong
Future Destinations: Argentina, Peru, Vietnam, China, New Zealand
ARTS
- I thoroughly enjoy going to a movie or play. I am obviously partial to films from Quebec, France, Spain and Japan.
- We have tickets to orchestra performances in Lethbridge.
- I continue to work away on the bagpipe changer in hopes of wearing my kilt more.
- I have a particular penchant for the Arts and Crafts, Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements.
- I love curry, sushi and pinot noir.
SPORTS
Tennis
- I am an avid tennis player and fan ! I attended the final at Roland Garros in 1997.
- I am grew up playing tennis tournaments and am a big “Federer” fan.
- In another life, I would have done something related to tennis (journalism etc.).
- I enjoy telling people that the word “tennis” is derived from the 2nd person plural conjugation of the French verb “tenir” (to hold) in the present – “tenez”, said with an English accent.
Soccer
- I also grew up playing soccer and still do in a +30 yrs Men’s league.
- I am a Toronto FC Fan.
- I do my best to follow the European leagues and have a soft spot for Scotland, France and Spain.
Skiing
- I love to ski and try with family and friends to take advantage of our proximity to the Rockies.
- In the area, we ski Castle Mountain, Fernie, Whitefish (in Montana), Lake Louise and Sunshine.
Hiking and Rock-climbing
- Every summer, we try to conquer a certain number of peaks in and around Waterton National Park or the Crowsnest Pass.
- I enjoy trying my hand at rock-climbing at U of L.
- I have been part of a mountaineering camp with the Alpine Club (Southern Alberta Section).
Golf
- I grew up playing this sport and am a decent hacker.
